RMAF Labuan Revisited.

Well! I did come back again to Labuan on the following years:

1981
No 5 Sqn. Labuan detachment - From No 7 Sqn RMAF Kuching as AlouetteIII detachment crew.

1985
RMAF Labuan detachment - From No11 Sqn RMAF Butterworth as Imagery Intelligence Crew.

1991
No 5 Sqn. Labuan detachment - From No 7 Sqn RMAF Kuching as AlouetteIII detachment crew.

1999
Personal tour itinerary: KL-Labuan-K.Kinabalu-Sandakan-K.Kinabalu-KL by MAS flight (Seven years after my retirement).

Labuan undergone a drastic changed both physically and economically. Lands reclaimed, new airport, new port facilities, modern tourism centers, the new An'nur mosque, several commercial buildings built and it was totally different compared from my first visit to Labuan in 1970.

Assalamualaikum,

No 5 Squadron is no longer in the buildings shown in the picture. I don't know the new location.

Waalaikumusalam Tuan,

Thank you for the information.Definitely the No 5 Sqn Office Bldg. had moved by now probably into the nearby old hangar bldg.or elsewhere. Well it was 30 years ago when I had visited the old office bldg.in 1981 on detachment from RMAF Kuching.

Greetings tuan-tuan,

No 5 Sqn has a new building housing the hanger and offices. It remains on the same location.

Very good evening to you Gasha, and thank you for following my blog. I am very sorry to hear that your father had passed away, and flying with him was not listed in my log book. Was he from Nuri or AlouetteIII? Emailing me his service photo would be appreciated.

Hi Gasha, thanks for the reply as 1984-1988 I use to be deployed on detachment from RMAF Kuching to RMAF Labuan.Your dad's name sound familiar to me as I was in the AlouetteIII wing...with a slight different area to be noticed.
