From The Warrant Officer's Desk.

Warrant Officer's Office at No.7 Sqn.RMAF Kuching 1990.

Hi,

There were no "Play Station" or computer games during my childhood days and instead loved for comics hailed to the very extreme. Probably, too much of reading comics like "Battle of Britain" that crazed me into joining the air force on the 19 February, 1970. I was enlisted into the Royal Malaysian Air Force with most of the enlisted personnel possessed OSC/MCE on entrance into the RMAF either as officers or the other ranks. Started from the other ranks, then became an Alouette III Air Gunner considered one of the most bestowed career in the air force.

I remembered in 1978, while my Alouette III gunship stationed at the "Kroh Detachment Airfield", a young army officer was having a private conversation and asked me whether he too could apply to be an Alouette III Air Gunner. I cordially told him as it was for the other ranks only, but you are alternately eligible for gunship pilot. He smiled...and said, "Something to be proud off". As an air gunner, we are considered by our own comrades as "Silent Warriors". We makes people sleep peacefully at night while we protects the country from insurgency harassment something of which nothing been heard about, and such operational undertakings been duly buried among us for the rest of our life. So lets work willingly, with honesty, integrity in enhancement for the sake of  peaceful future generation.

During my military career, I have traveled abroad officially quite some and mostly at the expense of the air force or called it duties and pleasures.Writing stories about my visits to the United States and elsewhere as to tell that we are not only limited to military operations. When fortunate one can start to see the world being in the military. Thanks to the RMAF that I have no regrets of what so ever for joining the air force as it gave me a  true taste of professionalism, discipline and leadership to what I have achieved insomuch.

To all Aircrews, be proud of your job and for the newcomers to the air force, I wish them the very best and good luck.

Signed by,

WO II Mohd Ismail Bin Mohd Hashim.
Aircrew Chief.
